Back To School Glow - Tips To Revive and Refresh Post Summer Skin

As summer comes to a close and a new school year unfolds, we often neglect the toile a fun filled summer has taken on our skin and hair. Exposure to longer hours of sunlight, surf and chlorine can lead to a dry, dull appearance. Start your school year off with a glow using simple tips to revive and refresh post summer skin.

Tip 1 - Exfoliate

One of the fastest ways to revive and refresh post summer skin is to exfoliate. Often times, when exposed to environmental elements, the outer layer of skin cells can become tough and thick - leading to a dry, dull appearance. Exfoliation will reveal a healthy glow to your skin.

  • Feet & Body: Choose a gentle exfoliator such as a sugar scrub. Beginning with your feet, scoop a small amount of scrub and polish, moving up the legs until you reach your thighs. (be careful as your feet could be slippery) Continue to polish buttocks, back, stomach, and arms. Use brisk, flowing movements that aim towards your heart center.
  • Chest & Face: We suggest a clay-based exfolitor / mask combination. Begin by cleansing your face, neck and chest then pat dry. Apply an even layer in circular motions to these areas. Allow to dry and rinse with warm water.

Tip 2 – Moisturize

After exfoliation, it is important to maintain a healthy glow by nourishing and moisturizing the skin. Exfoliated skin is more readily available to absorb nourishing ingredients - resulting in a healthier appearance.

  • Feet: We highly recommend concentrated body butters. Real body butters are thicker than lotions and tend to be packed full of nourishing ingredients that can heal and soothe summer worn feet. Before going to bed, slather a thick layer of body butter to each foot, place socks on both feet and go to sleep. In the morning, enjoy your soft pretty feet!
  • Body: For the body, try a new twist on moisturizing with a nourishing blend of botanical oils. Body Oils are rich in nourishing ingredients that feed the skin essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. Most formulas absorb quickly, while leaving skin with a luminous glow.
  • Face: Tone and hydrate using a 2-in-1 product combination. These are usually a spray-on application and are extremely easy and effective to use. Once you have toned and hydrated, we suggest applying a serum. Serums tend to be a concentrated way to receive nutrients and moisture to skin without leaving a residue.
  • Hair: A fast and easy way to revive and refresh your tresses is to do a hot oil treatment. Many times your Body Oil can double as a hair distress treatment. Warm oil to a comfortable temperature and apply to the roots, working all the way to the ends. Place hair in a shower cap and wrap in a hot towel for 20 minutes. Shampoo hair a few times to ensure residue is rinsed.

Tip 3 – Hydrate

Finally, yet importantly is hydration. Drinking plenty of water is an essential step to keeping skin properly hydrated and maintaining your back to school glow. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and try to drink at least 8 full glasses a day.

Enjoy Your Back To School Glow!
