So you have heard about it, you have seen people play it and you have always wanted to try it... The only question is where to start? I recommend starting to play online simply because of the following reasons:
1) Online allows you to play for free.
2) You will learn the game much quicker online.
3) You can play more hands per hour online, meaning quicker learning.
4) You won't have to feel uncomfortable because you are new as many of the actions are very self explanatory.
5) You don't have to pay extra money to learn including gas and drinks.
So now you have decided to become a part of the game that has swept the nation... correction the world, where do you start?
Firstly because of its popularity there are many Many MANY sources out there from which to learn the game. I will go in depth regarding these sources but for now I am just going to list the sources:
1) Google is your friend - Open up Google or any other search engine and type in "poker / texas holdem/ l earn to play poker" and be overwhelmed by the amount of information. In the next article I will post a couple of good links to start learning the game
2) Poker Forums- Again an online source of information that can will get you playing in no time.
3) Poker Books- If you prefer the crisp feel of paper, why not go onto Amzon or your local book store and pick up a Poker Book?
4) Poker Magazines- A great source of articles regarding strategy and current poker results.
Ok so in the next article I will go more in depth about where to start learning the game of poker and provide you with a great base to start learning.
